Sculpture: Garden Sunflowers

Using cold fusion techniques (without heat or water), families will work together shaping, designing, and assembling every part of the sunflower to create their own garden sculpture. Metal sculptor Josanna Borelli- Zavala will teach parents and their children how to use tools, bang metal, and adhere found objects together using nuts, bolts, and other types of hardware fasteners.  Each family group will go home with one sunflower that they built together.

Assemblage:  Hanging Mirrors

Glass artist Patti Wessman offers a chance to explore the reflective light qualities of the mirror. Together families will choose and assemble found objects such as twigs, shells, driftwood, beads, and more onto individual mirrors. The decorated mirrors can be hung individually or together to create a larger sculptural piece.

3-D Collage: Dream Houses

Designer and educator Hugo Corro will lead families in creating an artful house of your imagination. Using diverse and colorful materials, families will use precut cardboard or foam core board to serve as the foundation for creating your dream home. Younger children can decorate some simple premade boxes.
