In the tradition established by founder Rene di Rosa, for discovering and supporting new talent, di Rosa’s biennial MFA Selections exhibition showcases the work of artists who recently completed their Master of Fine Art degrees at Bay Area art schools and colleges.
The artists included in the exhibition were chosen from a pool of artists nominated by faculty from regional institutions including California College of the Arts, John F. Kennedy University, Mills College, San Francisco Art Institute, San Francisco State University, Stanford University, UC Berkeley and UC Davis.
Selected artists are: Llewelynn Fletcher from CCA, Jacqueline Gordon from Stanford, Angie Wilson from SF State, Chris Fraser, Camilla Newhagen, and Chelsea Pegram from Mills College. This year’s jury included Cathy Kimball, Executive Director of The San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), Eli Ridgway, owner of Eli Ridgway Gallery, and Alison Bing, art writer.
Reflecting the diverse voices of young artists working today, MFA Selections will include sculptures and installations using light, sound, textiles and other unusual materials. Many of the artists are creating new or site-specific works responding to the di Rosa property and the exhibition space.
