Alan Rath was born in 1959 in Cincinnati, Ohio and died in 2020 in Oakland, California. He earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His work is held in numerous collections, including SFMOMA, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the San José Museum of Art, and UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive.
