Carlos Villa was born in 1936 in San Francisco, California and died in 2013 in San Francisco, California. Villa earned a BFA from the California School of Fine Arts (San Francisco Arts Institute) and an MFA from Mills College. His work is held in numerous collections, including the Crocker Art Museum, the Oakland Museum of California, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
