Earl Thollander was born in 1923 in Kingsburg, California and was an artist, illustrator, author and a WWII U.S. Navy officer who is best known for his marine scene paintings, sketching, travel book writing and tour leading. He attended SF City College and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of California in 1944. He became famous for his drawings such as of Mount Saint Helena and scenes from Napa Valley. His work is held in galleries primarily in California.
