Les Kerr was born in 1934 in Detroit, Michigan and died in 1992 in San Francisco. Kerr was known for his colorful, pop art abstract paintings. He was educated at UCLA where he earned a BA (1956) and MA (1958). He worked at UCLA and NYU in the Studio Art and Art History departments. His work is in permanent collections at SFMoMA, BAMPFA, Oakland Museum of California, the Crocker (Sacramento, CA), and several other institutions.
