Preserving Milliken Peak and Securing Our Future
di Rosa is pleased to share an important step forward for the future of our organization, our collection, and the remarkable landscape that has been our home for more than three decades.
The Napa County Regional Park and Open Space District Board of Directors has approved a purchase agreement with the Rene and Veronica di Rosa Foundation for the 164-acre upper portion of the di Rosa property, including Milliken Peak.
Under the agreement, di Rosa will retain its approximately 52-acre lower campus along Carneros Highway, including its galleries, museum facilities, Sculpture Meadow, and other spaces central to our exhibitions, educational programs, and public events.
The proposed acquisition creates an opportunity to permanently preserve the landscape surrounding Milliken Peak while establishing a path toward greater public access to this extraordinary place. For di Rosa, the agreement also represents a significant step toward strengthening the long-term financial sustainability of the organization and ensuring that our collection and programs can continue to serve our community for generations to come.
Art, Nature, and Community
The relationship between art and the landscape has always been fundamental to di Rosa.
Under the proposed agreement, the Open Space District would acquire the largely undeveloped upper property, including Milliken Peak, while outdoor artworks located within the property would remain. Plans outlined by the District envision a future public trail to the 732-foot summit of Milliken Peak, offering sweeping views of Napa Valley, San Pablo Bay, and the Mayacamas Mountains alongside works of art situated throughout the landscape.
The partnership brings together di Rosa, the Napa County Regional Park and Open Space District, and the Land Trust of Napa County around a shared opportunity: protecting an important Napa County landscape while supporting the continued vitality of one of the region’s unique cultural institutions.
