Davina Semo: Core Reflections
Gallery 1 | January 29โJune 28, 2020
Jim Drain: Membrane
Gallery 1 | February 19โDecember 27, 2020
Join us as we celebrate the launch of two new exhibitions:
Davina Semo: ๐๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฆ ๐๐ฆ๐ง๐ญ๐ฆ๐ค๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ด highlights a new body of work by the San Franciscoโbased artist that considers the unique setting of Gallery 1 in relation to the landscape. Combining industrial materials and natural forms, it underscores the precarious state of the environment and offers a contemplative space for self-reflection.
Jim Drain: ๐๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฃ๐ณ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฆ is the Providence-based artistโs first solo commission in Northern California. This fully interactive yearlong installation connects visitors with a lineage of countercultural dreamers who deployed craft and handwork to build a more democratic and inclusive world.
๐๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ท๐ฆ๐ณ๐ด๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐๐ช๐ฆ๐ค๐ฆ๐ด showcases newly commissioned works by emerging and mid-career artists who spark dialogue with the artistic legacy of Northern California. This series continues di Rosaโs ongoing interest in supporting the production of new work, and is notable for expanding the organizationโs programmatic scope to include artists working both in and outside of the Bay Area.
