The Incorrect Museum: Redux | Opening May 13

Gallery 2

The Incorrect Museum – a permanent exhibition exploring the history of art in Northern California – has been dramatically updated and expanded for 2022 with new works by Deborah Remington, Wally Hedrick and Nathan Oliveira, among others.

The exhibition’s scope – which originally focused on the ‘funk’ and ‘nut’ art of the 1970s and 80s – has been expanded to encompass ‘beat’ movements that defined the San Francisco scene in the 1950s and 60s. The reimagined installation also looks more concertedly at the roles of women and artists of color in the history of Bay Area art.
